Everyday I will take a picture of my summer vacation goings on.... I will do my best to post them everyday... so you all can check in whenever you want and see what kind of fruits I've been tasting and let run down my chin.... I might even pick up Frolf...........

Smokin' some salmon out on the grill right now.... above is a stock photo - not my own... but looking somewhat similar to that... just not as many chunks.... freakin' love smoked salmon...

I'm thinking that I'm heading off into the outskirts of food...
ya know, the dude that likes all that crazy shit that most folks maybe don't much care for so much.... for example... I love blue cheese, pickled herring, smoked salmon, cherry bombs (rum soaked cherries), lamb of any variety (in fact, I make lamb burgers more often than hamburgers!), salt and vinegar potato chips (probably one of the top three things I would choose to have if I were deserted on an island somewhere), venison brats, anything slathered in hot sauce of any variety... Indian food - love that shit!!! ... smoked anything... do they smoke a Snickers bar???? .... need I go on?????
The problem here is that I live with a Scottish/Finland/northern Minnesotan wife that thinks ketchup is spicy! I try and try to tempt her with some chicken vindaloo or spice rubbed beef ribs but, alas, I am shot down in favor of spaghetti (though I like that too!) or something of the like.

Variety is the spice of life peoples! Try something new this week!!

Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

So, with that, we held the first Tomten 09 planning commission get together. It all went well. There was some heated discussion on rental vs. buying our very own Porta Potty... and then, in a stroke of genius, Knasty comes up with the idea of custom building our own... I'm liking that! Wood paneled inside... skylight.... spacious.... wheels for easy transportation... DellMarie thinks I'm a jackass... but that's nothing new!
PA is taken care of...
And we have 3 acts lined up for certain with 5 blowing in the wind (two of which are 80 to 90% sure to play).... hopefully we shore it up within the next couple weeks.
Look for invites within the month of May...

Other than that, work is getting crazy... end of the year blitzkrieg coming on.
Just been watching playoff hockey... and dingwoppin!

Chicken Swap Time!

This morning was the Carlton Feed Mill Spring Chicken Swap... sounds pretty darn backwoods hick style don't it? But it is a good time.... folks there swapping/selling/buying all sorts of things.... birds of all varieties such as chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, turkeys.... puppies, kittens, goats, cows, rabbits, horses, donkeys, as well as all sorts of other non-living stuff like jewelry, honey, feathers, wool, maple syrup...etc,. etc.

There is also an Amish family that comes every year and makes outstanding homemade bread, cheese, doughnuts etc. YUM!

So we took Fin and got a shitload of comments like "look at that huge dog!" and the like.... its a bit weird to us because we don't think of him as that big - because we are with him everyday I suppose.... He did great - let everybody pet him and even gave a little boy a kiss.... he was really interested a Scotland Highland cow and the goats in the pickup.

After the Chicken Swap we went off to Grandma Diane's where Fin got spoiled with way too many treats... she couldn't believe how big he has gotten since he hasn't visited in a while.
DellMarie asked if she should bring him down for Thanksgiving or Christmas and she said Grandma Ann would have a stroke! HA!
Alright... sun is shining... I'm going to go make a cocktail and grill some burgers!

Two Weeks Ago......

I was shaving my beard off... wow... time flies by huh.
Anyway... an update.... I got a bit of hair cut off too... trimming up all that winter fuzz I guess.
By the way... I really, really don't want to come off in any way as being vain here.... just providing a picture for the record....
We had the kids out for their weekly "community outing" at work today and ended up at the lake walk in Duluth... freakin' awesome today... 70 degrees... sun.... YES!
Yes, you are looking at a huge chunk of ice/snow/beach sand/gravel... it is about 4 feet high and 50 yards long. The white you see in the pic below off to the left is ice.... still out there... almost gone though.
